You Make Me Wanna Roll My Windows Down & Cruise

Well blog lovin' friends I'm officially home from "The Vegas" aka what my Reno friends call my home. My trip was one that I will never regret & I am so happy that I was able to make. I LIED to all of you loyal readers! I had previously said that I would be traveling home on the Sunday before Christmas & I pulled one over on everyone. I flew home Saturday the second I got off of work. I had hatched up this plan with my mom 2 weeks prior to my trip home & I couldn't wait to surprise everyone! Friday night I had made it a point to call my grandma's & make sure that they both thought I'd be home Sunday. My grandma Corn was sad I wouldn't be able to make the cookie party, but was very excited to see me Sunday. Little did she know she'd see me both nights! That Saturday I woke up ready to stuff my suitcase in my car & head to work, but I woke up to snow. At that time I was pretty worried about the weather, but I just prepared myself for the worst. Throughout the day I kept checking outside to see if it was snowing & it had calmed down. About 1 hour before my flight I peaked on my phone & it said my plane was delayed 15 minutes. At that time I was so worried that I wouldn't make it, but thankfully by the time I had to leave for the airport the snow had slowed down & I made it. I parked my car at the airport & made the trek to the terminals in the snow, but it didn't matter to me. All I wanted to do was be home with my family & it was all worth it. As I got up to get in line to board my plane I ran into a friend from high school & we decided to sit next to each other. It's funny how that always seems to happen to me. Even in Reno I run into people I know every one in awhile. As we were flying over Las Vegas I don't think I had ever been that happy to see the Las Vegas lights. The second we landed on the ground I turned my phone on & called my mom. After we finally all got off of the plane & got our luggage I was ready to run outside. I stepped outside & into the Vegas air & the first thing I heard was my mom & aunt Dollie calling my name. I was SO happy to see them! My mom had kidnapped my aunt from the cookie party & didn't tell her where they were heading until they pulled into the airport. Well we finally arrived at my aunt Karen's house & I let my mom & aunt walk in first. I waited a few minutes & then I strolled in. The first person to spot me was my cousin Sierra. She was so excited to see me :) The next person to see me was my grandma & all she could say was I thought you weren't going to be here until tomorrow you lied! It was a nice way to start off my trip back home. The party was a lot of fun & I finally decided to head over to my other aunts party. I walked in the door & surprised all of my dad's family as well. It was perfect that both sides of my family were having a party on the same night, it made life so much more fun. After attending 2 parties I finally got to head home to my mom's house. As soon as I turned the garage door handle I had a brown lab right in my face. Lola was probably the happiest to see me <3 I got to unload my suitcase from the car & catch up with my dogs & I then decided to let one of my friends know I was in town & we made plans to hangout & we did. My first night home was my favorite day of my trip. I got to see almost every person that I care about in one night. The next couple of days were a lot of fun & I packed a lot of things into a short period of time. Christmas was a great day as well. I got so many amazing presents, but the one I am most thankful for is the fact that I got to spend time with my family. Distance definitely makes the heart grown fonder. The Miami Heat also won! Such a great gift every year! I cried on this trip probably as many times as I've cried in this entire year! I thankfully know why & I'm glad to say that I am still in my non emotional mindset :) The day I had to leave Las Vegas to come back to Reno wasn't very fun. I had to wake up at 5 a.m. after staying up almost all night with friends & I was exhausted! I almost considered sleeping past my alarm clock, but I couldn't miss that flight. It's always hard to say goodbye. Especially to my dogs. I got to spend so much time with them & I miss them every day that I'm here in Reno. Especially Lola. My sidekick. We were stuck like glue the entire time I was home. When I was flying over the Lake Tahoe I looked out & everything was COVERED in snow!!! My co worker Tina had told me it snowed, but I wasn't prepared for how much! I finally unloaded the plane & got my suitcase & again made the long trek to my car. I had to let it get warm & I scrapped all the snow & ice off of it. How NOT fun that was! & working the day you come back from a trip isn't a smart idea! I was one hot mess! I've been back in Reno for a few days & I can't believe how much I miss home. I had to talk myself into coming back. I had been texting my friend Tina while I was home & she told me that she missed me up here. Tina is always telling me I'm never allowed to leave Reno. She's definitely one of my Reno best friends. I now have the new year to look forward to. This last year of my life was one I spent on myself. I kind of kept to myself & I let my heart take a rest, but 2013 is my breakout year. I need to bust out of my shell & see where I'm meant to be. This is the year I stop overthinking everything & let go. You only live once right? I also do not need anyone in my life that doesn't appreciate me. I must say I'm a great person to have in your corner. My big heart has a lot to offer :). I have yet to make a goal list like last year, but I'm sure I will get one soon enough. I hope you all had a Merry Christmas & that you will all have a great beginning to 2013! I so far have no set plans. I've been invited places, but we shall see. Every other year I go live it up so let's see!

You Remind Me of Home

My blog post titles are always song lyrics. I can't help it. I feel as if my life is sometimes just a bunch of songs scrambled together. I love the days when I hear a song & it relates to my own life perfectly. I can thank my friend JoyceAnn for introducing me to this Ben Gibbard song. This week is the week I've been waiting for. I get to go home again :) Every time I tell someone that they think I'm referring to Reno. It's not that I don't love Reno, but Henderson will always be my home. It's like a first love. You never forget it & it'll always be something you remember. I haven't been home since October & honestly I can't wait. My mom texts me every day for the countdown, my dad calls me every day asking me when I'll be moving home, & every time I talk to my grandma's they both tell me how they can't wait to see me. I'm one lucky girl if I do say so myself :) My friend Laquan told me today how he can't wait to see me, but since Friday is the day the world will be ending he's scared that he wont get the chance. At least we'll get to live it up together in heaven. I've been the worst blogger ever lately. Sometimes I just take a break because I don't know what to write. Reno is COLD. & when I say cold I mean COLD. It snowed the other day & I happened to be out in sandals. SANDALS people! People probably thought I looked like an idiot, but oh well. I'll never be thankful enough for the marsh mellow jacket that my dad bought me. Speaking of gifts. I'm still not done Christmas shopping :( I work every single day this week even the day I fly out & I'm in major stress mode. This isn't like me. At least I have everything bought for my mom & brother already. 2 people down 100 more to go I feel like. Also today I tried to buy some VS pj's & they were sold out online. I decided to call the stores up here to find them & they were all sold out. I ended up calling the stores in Reno & Las Vegas & finally I found them at the Meadows mall. The ghetto mall. Thankfully my mom will be picking them up for me this week. My mom also tried to buy me the mittens I posted in my previous blog & again they were SOLD OUT! How is this my life!? Again thankfully Reno has them & I will be buying my 2nd Christmas present. My last dilemma is to wrap pre flying or after? I don't want to spend all my time wrapping presents for them to be tore up. It's all part of the struggle I guess. At least I've had a fun week. My co worker Tina & I decided we'd head down to the Reno Santa pub crawl & let me just say it was a night for the books. I've never had so much fun. There are many details I'd love to write, but my mom reads this so I must keep it G rated. My cousin Jordyn will be flying into Las Vegas this week & I can't wait to see her. We both didn't get the chance to go home for Thanksgiving so a reunion is much needed. & we're both legal age now so the Vegas better watch out. Maybe we can even convince my brother to come along. All I know is I can't wait to be home! I always get very anxious before I fly home, but the second I land in that city of lights I feel so much better. This trip is going to be longer than my last trip home so hopefully many good things happen during it. Although this time I will not kill myself to see everyone. People can come to me. Last time I was too stressed & exhausted. This time I am only seeing the people that I need to see. Hopefully all of my Henderson readers make the list ;) On that note I'm going to snuggle into my cute new flannel sheets & watch some television. It's suppose to start snowing any minute so I will not leave my apartment until tomorrow when I have to. I love you all & will write hopefully before Christmas. Xoxoxo, Syd

I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas

As previously mentioned I have no Christmas list! Ever since I was little my brother & I had one ready to go the day after Thanksgiving, but this year is different. The first Christmas you have with a job is when everything changes. From that moment on you finally have your own money & buy mostly the things you want throughout the year. This is why it's so hard for me to buy presents for people & why I have no big clues on things that I want. Between school & work I've had no time to compile a list & if my mom asks me for my list one more time I may hang up the phone (sorry mom, still love ya!) With this all being said I've come across a few things that have gotten my attention.

I'd like the red pair in a size medium. I will be needing these for the snow season that is fast approaching.

Bling yoga leggings in a medium. Lace pair only.

Now these are a few ideas for anyone that has asked. In case you don't want to buy me any of those things I would also LOVE a new bottle of the Taylor Swift Wonderstruck fragrance since I ran out last year or the coach poppy perfume. A forever 21 gift card or victoria secret gift card works just as well though. & my favorite gift of all.....$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

My favorite gift that I have been given this year is the gift of being able to be with my amazing family for Christmas. I can't wait to see my grandma's, my mom, my dad, my brother, my best friends, my dogs :) <3 I may even have a little surprise up my sleeve ;)

Friday's Letters

Dear Last Christmas song: Please stop being so amazing & addicting. I could listen to you on repeat all day & never get tired, but only in the Glee version & the original Wham version. I love you.

Dear Christmas: You are only 18 days away & I have not bought ONE present :( This is depressing & a little stressful. I also have no clue on any big items that I want to ask for. This is not like me & I hate that!

Dear Corey & Mike: Thank you both so much for your kindness! Those gift cards really made my day :) Target & Starbucks are 2 of my favorite places in the world! I say this all the time, but I really am one blessed girl!

Dear people that make mittens & gloves: Please start making glove fingers a little shorter. I want a cute pair of mittens so badly, but all of them are too long on my baby hands. I can't help that I have small cub hands. Stop discriminating!

Dear Tyler: Thank you for the fantastic book recommend. I can't wait to discuss this book with you on Monday. You will be home in 4 months. Yay!

Dear Aunt Cindie: Get to Reno already! Cindie & Sydney do Reno. I'm not sure Reno can handle to Hernandez ladies. Hopefully you will not freeze to death when you are up here. Every time someone from home comes up here to visit there is the worst weather.

                         Love you guys! Xo, Syd
