I'll Be Home For Christmas

In case no one caught onto my catchy song lyric title, I will not be home for Thanksgiving :( BUT I will be home Christmas :) The decision for me not to go home was tough, but one I decided to make. Both of my parents offered to fly me out for the holiday, but I declined. That's a lot of traveling & things to fit into probably a day & a half. Now Christmas I will actually be home for 4 days. I'm counting down the days :) At least for Thanksgiving I will not have to run around like a chicken with my head cut off. Attending 3 Thanksgivings & 3 Christmas's isn't as fun as some may think. Although through the years it has gotten easier. I don't even want to think about how many things I'll have to attend when I one day get married & have kids. Yikes! I've decided that instead of hanging out at my apartment alone, I'd volunteer at a homeless shelter & help feed the people who really need it. I've always wanted to do this, but I always had so much to do that I had no time. This year is my year. Thanksgiving won't be the same without Grandma Corn in the kitchen with John cooking up a storm. Or even seeing my brother, mom, aunts, uncles, & cousins all sitting around talking/ watching football. I love the holidays. I love spending time with my families. & I LOVE the food. Especially pumpkin pie. Yum! Maybe I will attempt my own pumpkin pie. I'm sure it will taste delicious! Other than the normal day to day things I've been making a bigger effort to go out and make more friends rather than just keep to myself. Church is the perfect place for this! My friend Mark is up here as well & he's introduced me to many people. One of my new friends JoyceAnn is the sweetest! She has invited me to spend Thanksgiving with her family and I am so grateful for that! Although my mom still hasn't given up her hope of me being home for Thanksgiving. It may be due to the fact that last week for some odd reason was my hardest week living her. I cried almost every day. All I wanted to do was be home. Thankfully that was just a few days. I've already been in Reno for almost 3 months! Crazy! It SNOWED here this weekend! How crazy is that! It was only 19 degrees during the day & I thought I was going to die. I was definitely nervous about the snow, but once I drove in it I was alright. On my way to work there were numerous accidents, but nothing major that I saw. It melted mid day & now we're just stuck with freezing temps! I'm so glad that my dad got me my jacket when he did. That thing is the one thing that keeps me warm up here. I may need to invest in a heated ice scarper because getting the ice off of my windshield with my debit card is not practical & kind of ghetto. Lately I've been thinking of Christmas & seeing as black Friday is around the corner I have a few things on my list! 1. Tall black boots 2. Victoria Secret pink yoga pants, sweats, & hoodies. 3. Cute jacket from Target. 4. Chevron case for Ipad (Target) 5. Taylor Swift perfume. I want both because I used up the one Granny Corn bought me last year 6. New Brighton necklace & a ring & that's what I have so far! I'm sure I will come up with more later, but it's a start :) I just want to end this post with this. Thank you to everyone who has been there for me lately. I love every single one of you & I'm so glad to have you all in my life. I must say I am one blessed girl & I wouldn't have it any other way. I had to include these screen shots from my Aunt J aka my #1 blog follower! I love this woman to pieces! She is always getting on me about my chipped nail polish. Also one of these pictures is of my hair caught in the car door. This happens to me at least once a day. & the last 2 are of the crazy Reno weather. Fall/winter. Xoxoxo, Syd
