Friday's Letters

Dear Lola: I just re discovered this picture of us & I about cried. I miss the days when you were little & I could actually pick you up. I can't wait to snuggle with you when I'm home. I miss you so much.

Dear shipping company: You suck. My mom shipped my chair & things with you because they were suppose to be here today & now they won't be here until Wednesday. You're lucky I wasn't in a mood today or else I would have given you the wrath.

Dear long hair: If you get caught in one more car door or in any of my food one more time I'm cutting you 3 inches! I love you, but you've been in the way lately. Even when I go to hug people you get caught in their armpits. That's just sick. Although I'm diggin' the ombre color I dyed you.

Dear Ad2Reno: I'm in love with you! I am so glad that I met Kaitlin at that yard sale & we had a instant friendship. I am so excited to learn more & to get more involved.

Dear Aunt J: I love you! Thank you so much for that Home Depot gift card. I went & bought myself some storage containers & a baby cactus! I sound so grown writing that! :)

Dear downtown Reno: You are gorg! I can't wait to spend some more time down there & get to know you a little better.

P.S. I hope you all like my new blog layout & the new name!

Versatile Blogger Award

My Latina lover Jerilyn nominated me for this award & I wouldn't have even known about it, but thankfully I saw that she had posted something & decided to check it out. She doesn't blog too often so I knew this was a rare occurrence that couldn't be missed. & if you clicked her name to check out her blog I swear she is part Hispanic. Don't let the Blondie hair & colored eyes fool you! Jerilyn is a hilarious girl that I got the opportunity to meet last year at a Christmas party thanks to Bosh aka Alexes Morgan. We were friends right off the bat & of course she had a best friend named Sydney already. Guess that means we were meant to be.

7 Random Facts:
1. I LOVE the Miami Heat. I'm sure anyone who reads my blog knows that, but you never know! I'm the person that screams at the tv during a game.

2. I hate doing my hair! Any opportunity that I get to leave my hair alone I take. This is why my hair is usually braided or in a pony tail/bun.

3. My best friend ADLC & I use to make rap videos in high school. Even to this day some people will still rap our lyrics back to us.

4. One second I could be belting out a Taylor Swift song & then a second later start rapping a Lil Wayne song. I'm full of surprises.

5. Almost every single one of my family members & best friends have a different nickname for me. Syddco & Squid are probably the ones I've had the longest.

6. My closet is organized by color, season, & type of shirt. All the hangers are white & they all face with the right side of the shirt to the front. I'm a little obsessed.

7. I have child hands. They are smaller than my 8 year old cousins. Everyone is always amazed at how small they are.

You Drive Me Crazy

As I sit here writing this post I'm singing along to my favorite song of the week. (You Drive Me) Crazy/Crazy. The song is a mix of Aerosmith's Crazy & You Drive Me Crazy- B.S. It's one of the songs from last weeks Glee episode. I cannot even tell you how many times I've listened to this song already! If I was guessing I would probably say at least 40. Glee has some of the catchiest songs & I will play them over & over & never get sick of them. I'm finally starting to make quiet a few new friends & I love it. I've taken up running again & It's so great to be back out there again especially since It's becoming cooler, but I hate running at night. I'm not always sure where I'm going & I'm nervous that someone is going to come up behind me & I will never be seen again. People keep telling me all of these horrible stories about people getting killed at night up here & it's not very comforting. Last night on my run I ran smack into a huge police scene. 15 cop cars were at one house & they were blocking my way home, of course. I eventually had to ask a cop how to get back & he wasn't very nice & definitely wasn't helpful. At least I had my phone & I mapped out my way home. I am so thankful that the new IPhone update has a talking map (finally!) Lately a lot of my friends have all been telling me the same thing "If you feel it let it happen" & that's the way I've been living my life as of late. I'm all about the "signs" from above. I booked my ticket home last Friday! YAY! I know I've said this before, but I can't wait to be reunited with sweet ol' Henderson for 4 days. I'm even considering having a little get together just so that everyone that wants to see me while I'm home will. There are so many people & so many things to fit into 4 days, but I will try my hardest to make it happen. I'm looking forward to my trip to Target on Saturday with Corey so much. Target trips just aren't the same without pushing Corey around in the cart while people look at us like we're crazy. This past weekend I finally took my mom's advice and went yard sailing. When I was little my grandma Maria would drag me to every single yard sale she could find & I hated them! She would wake me up at the crack of dawn & we'd be gone for hours! Now that I'm older I'm beginning to like them again. So Sunday I rolled out of my warm bed in search of the "sales" & I found one that was amazing! I bought a coffee pot, J.Crew phone case, & a wolf pack shirt & the best part is that I got everything for 11 dollars! I am so glad that I went! The day before I had almost bought a coffee maker at Target for 16 dollars, thank goodness I didn't! On top of all of my great purchases I got to meet a super sweet girl! She is a social media specialist & that's exactly what I want to be! In case you didn't know I run my brother's Twitter & Instagram for his store Reptiles N Reefs ( https://www.facebook.com/#!/reptilesnreefs ) BTW if you have a twitter please go follow! Anyways, the girl & I started talking & we're both from Henderson & we hit it off automatically! She invited me to go to a social media group they have here in Reno for people in the biz that are 35 years & younger that are in advertising, marketing, design and pr fields. My first meeting is tonight & I am so excited! Guess it pays off to yard sale! My grandma Marie sent me the sweetest card this week & a Target gift card! Everyone is apparently aware of my Target addiction! As soon as I opened the card I bawled my eyes out. As I mentioned before this last week was my hardest one yet. My homesickness kicked in, but I'm better now. I just have to keep telling myself that home will always be there & I will be there very soon! October is right around the corner :) I can't wait to finally burn my pumpkin candles! It's already starting to become a little colder up here. When I went running last night it was 63 degrees. Now to many that isn't very cold, but to me it's a little chilly.  I'm realizing quickly that half of my clothes are not Reno winter appropriate. I will have to invest in some thermals, snow boots, & a real coat! I was so chilly last night that I had to wear a hoodie! In Henderson yesterday it was in the 90's, here it was in the 70's. Big difference. Tonight I'm going out with one of my new co workers for her 21st birthday! She's awesome & she went to school at Unlv for a year so we bonded over our love of Las Vegas. ALSO the Miami Heat start training in 5 days for the upcoming season!!! I've made it my goal for this year to go watch them play the Lakers! Hopefully we get our second championship this year Bron Bron!  Well I love you all & if you read this blog & have a blog please follow! :)

Friday's Letters

Dear Reno: I love you. I always knew I was meant to be here. From my first trip in October of 2007 to now I have loved it here. I am happy to call you my home.

Dear Henderson: Please don't think I no longer love you! I can't wait to be back in the 702 for a few days :) I'm ready to see my family, friends, & doggies. I miss them all so much! The weather better have cooled down by then!

Dear apartment 9: I'm diggin' the way my mother & I decorated you. Although I did wake up yesterday to a female black widow outside my door. Please stop that shiz asap!

Dear mom: Thank you for everything. I love you very much.

Dear Nike's: You are da bomb! During my walk this morning to Bibo you were as comfy as could be. Plus your mint & grey color scheme is very appealing to me. You're like walking on air. We shall do more walking together tomorrow morning.

Dear Lola: I miss you. All day. Every day. I miss you jumping into my bed in the morning, I miss fighting for space on my bed,I miss throwing your ball, I miss your slobbery kisses, but most of all I miss you. I can't wait to be reunited with my dog.

Dear Basketball: CAN YOU COME BACK ALREADY!? I'm having with drawls! I am so ready for basketball season! This season shall be very interesting. King James round 2?

Check Mark

I can't believe I'm about to type this, but I've already been in Reno one month! It has been one fast month I'll tell you that. I've already moved three times! As I wrote last week I moved into my 1st apartment! Let me tell you, it was torture! Having to move my things for the 3rd time in a month wasn't something I was looking forward to. After 30 trips up & down stairs all of my things were packed & I was off to move them into my new place. The best part was having my mom up here with me for 2 days! :) It was nice to have a piece of home up here in my new home. My mom drove up Friday morning & as soon as she got here we went to work. My mom had packed all of the extra things I had left at home & also packed my new desk & my new storage cube. After many trips to Walmart, Target, Jcp, & Costco my new home is set. There are a few little things I'd like to do, but I love the way everything turned out. I owe a huge thank you to my mom! Without her I would have been lost. & also another thank you to her for getting me AT&T U-Verse cable TV! I wish she would have been able to stay longer, but that just means I get to go home soon! Don't let my words fool you though, the second she got in the car to leave I cried my eyes out. Being up here all alone has been an adjustment for me, but it's something that's getting easier with time. I've been looking over my schedule & I think I finally picked a weekend for my first trip back home to Henderson :) The last thing my mom told me before she left was pick a date & you'll be home so sure enough I went right inside to my apartment & looked up southwest.com. I can't wait to be home for a few days & just enjoy everything that I've been missing. Last night was my first time sleeping at my new apartment & I made it out alive! I'm a weirdo, I always think that people are going to break in & kill me. I watch too many lifetime movies. I did sleep with my pepper spray under my pillow though. You can never be too careful! I did find out that the 3 surrounding apartments around me are occupied by big guys & they all told me that if I need anything to just scream. I now feel a little better! We've already established our favorite basketball teams & that I will be baking them cookies sometime this week. This definitely makes me feel like I'm Jess from New Girl. Which btw should be coming back on again shortly (yay!) Tonight after class I decided to go check my own mail box for the first time & I got my first piece of mail! & it was from none other than my Aunt J! Thank you so much Aunt J & Uncle Ian! You guys are amazing! It makes me laugh that I got so excited over my first piece of mail, but it's special because it was from my aunt <3 My Aunt J is such a sweet soul. She's one of those people who you can call when you feel a little sad & she will put you in a great mood. She never lets anything or anyone bring her down. That's one of the many reasons I love her. I know no matter what I can always count on her to lend me a shoulder & I will always do the same for her. & with that everyone I will be ending this blog post. I'm tired tonight for some reason. Don't worry, I will write more next week! If anyone wants to see me while I'm home make sure to let me know :)

Living Young, Wild, and Free

Week 3: Done. Crazy huh! I can't believe how fast my days are flying! I'm still getting use to my new life up here, but it's becoming easier. The one thing I need to do is find a new "Corey." Core was the one I called to tag along with me to target, grab lunch with, & whatever else popped into our heads. He was my go to guy for sure. I've made quiet a few friends up here, but everyone is so busy! School is what's taking over every ones lives right now including my own. School 3 days a week & working 4 isn't overwhelming for me though. I do attend a church class every week though & that's helping me meet new people while also keeping me in tune with the man above. When I was little my family & I never really went to church. Now that I'm older I love going & when I have my own family one day (not soon) they will be brought up in church, obviously. Although like my Aunt J always tells me, you don't need to go to church to believe. All you need to do is have faith & pray. Other than that this week has been pretty plain except for the fact that my car battery died! I had gone to Jackson's ( It's like a 711) & I was only inside for 2 minutes, came outside, tried to start my car & nothing happened :( & the worst part was I had forgotten my cell phone! So I had to go inside & ask to borrow the phone & I then made a phone call to my mom. Thankfully while I was waiting outside a man came up who was none other than a mechanic & he then told me my battery was dead. After he told me that a 2nd man came up & offered to jump my car. Thank goodness for the kindness of strangers! After my car got jumped it started back up to life & I was on my way. Unfortunately I had 2 classes that day & my car wouldn't start back up. Just my luck. Next morning I was at the auto parts store buying a new 84 dollar battery :( It was a blessing in disguise that I had dog sat/ cat sat the weekend before & had just got paid 50 dollars that same day. The man above is always looking out for me. My good karma always comes in handy :) Wednesday I am moving yet again! This time into my very own place! This means my mom will be driving up to bring me the rest of my things. I'm thrilled that my mom's coming, but honestly I can't wait to make a trip back home. I'm beginning to crave Lotus egg flower soup. No other Chinese food compares in my book. & I of course miss my dogs & family. Face time just isn't the same.So next week be prepared to see me posting pictures of my new place. I am so excited to decorate my very own little place that I don't even know where to start. Plus having pinterest isn't helping any. It makes me want to decorate 1,000 different ways. I've got a plan in my head though so we will see how that all goes.& thanks to my mom I will have cable! I had talked myself into believing I didn't need it, but if I couldn't watch Pretty Little Liars or Glee I would be one sad lady. My mom told me yesterday she went & saw my grandma Marie & my grandma had told her that she was proud of me. She said that she wished that when she was younger she would have had enough guts to leave her small hometown & everyone she loved in order to go somewhere else. As soon as my mom had told me that I knew I had made the right choice. I'm only young once & since I'm not married & I have no kids this is the perfect time. Maybe one day I'll even go on a trip outside the U.S. with Corey. My possibilities are endless! So for now that is what I leave with you blog world. Think of me Wednesday. I will be running up & down stairs with all of my clothes, TV, & little trinkets in hand.

Dos

In case you don't speak Spanish like myself, my blog title means 2, aka week 2! Yes it's already been two weeks! As I mentioned last week I started school Monday & the worst part was the parking! The campus is huge compared to what I'm use to, & they have tons of parking, but that doesn't help anything. I had to get to school 30 minutes early & even though my class was at 9 A.M. the parking lot was packed. I had to park in the last parking spot at the end of the row. Well as soon as I finally made it to my first class & sat down I automatically knew the class I had chosen wasn't right for me. Drawing classes = death. The longer I sat in the class the more I knew it wasn't for me. Let me just say I dropped that class after the 2nd day. I had to lug around a huge brown clipboard looking contraption that was almost as tall as I was. I'm sure people passing me had a good laugh. The good news is with the rest of my classes I actually made some friends! I did become friends with this guy from Texas, but he's a Dallas Mavs so we can only be friends until basketball season. I already notified him of this. It always cracks me up when guys are surprised by my basketball knowledge. I've been doing a lot of shopping lately for my APARTMENT! Yes my very first one! I am so excited! & seeing as it's almost Fall I've been stocking up on my pumpkin & apple smelling products. I have an addiction! My mom is driving up during this month to bring me the rest of my stuff & I can't wait to see her. I've had to call her a lot lately to find out what I need to furnish my apartment. The other day I went to target to find a shower curtain & I couldn't believe how many choices there were! I finally settled on a yellow & white patterned one after about 30 minutes. I could spend all day in Target! Especially the Target located near Legends (the Reno outlets.) Tuesday night as I was getting ready for bed I had a surprise happen, but it was a good surprise. It made me happy. I finally went back to work after 2 weeks! Sunday was my first day & it was a big change. I haven't been the new person for 3 years & being in a new store was a little intense for me. This is when I finally became homesick. I started crying, but I stopped myself. If I hadn't been working it probably would have been bad. On my break I ran into a girl I went to high school with & we caught up. It's nice knowing at least 1 person from home minus my childhood friend Holly. After work was over I decided to pop into the dollar store. I had never really gave the dollar store a fair chance so when I discovered tons of things I wanted I was shocked. I now am a dollar store junky! The rest of this labor day weekend was spent doing homework, going to sushi with Holly, dog sitting for one neighbor, cat sitting for another, & just face timing my friends back home. Corey I talk to everyday, Laquan almost every day, Monyca, Adlc, Alexes, & Rae bear. I've gotten to spend some time with my friends Sam, Katie, & then Holly & her baby Amarah. It's crazy knowing Holly & I have been friends since we were her daughters age. Whenever I have a child (which won't be for years!) they will be friends. I even made a new friend at a church class I went to. Slowly, but surely I will have lots of new friends, but that doesn't mean I don't still need my friends from home. I talk to Corey every day, Laquan, Adlc, Alexes, Monyca, & Rae bear. This guy I've known forever texted me the other night & asked me if he asked me to be his girlfriend, what would I say? I laughed so hard. You waited too long bud! This week has been a rocky one for me, but I made it. Knowing I missed family bbq's makes me sad, but I just spent my day watching gossip girl, doing homework, & going shopping. I keep pestering my mom to book a flight home for me. I'm ready to visit home.  Last night I called my co worker Sergio & he told me that his family had gone to Lotus the other night & they thought about me. I definitely miss Lotus, nowhere can replace my childhood spot. Hopefully the first weekend of October I will be home or the 13th. My uncle Mo is being inducted into the Nevada wrestling hall of fame & he wants me there so I'm crossing my fingers! Now that I've spilt my heart out into this blog post I am tired! Hopefully a lot of people switched their schedules so that parking isn't too bad in the morning. I've learned that the parking in the back lots is smarter. Way more free spaces! I'm leaving you with some pictures. Until next week!
